PIP Programs

The Primary Intervention Program (PIP) was created 52 years ago and is one of the most researched and widely used programs. Students are worked with on a one-on-one basis and as a group to improve social and emotional development. Sessions last from 30 to 40 minutes with a particular social skills curriculum. The younger kids participate in nondirective individual play, where they choose what and how they want to play with an adult. This helps kids build successful social relationships between peers and adults. These students also receive packets for home assignments to continue to use their new skills. Funding for this program is through mental health and several grants.
