Tom Torlakson, the state superintendent of public schools was in Willows Thursday to learn more about the needs of rural school districts.

Torlakson spent time at schools in Sutter, Colusa and Glenn counties. In Willows he visited the Intermediate School where he enjoyed music from the Willows High School Band. He also spent time at Lake Elementary and Orland High School.

Torlakson told Action News Now, schools in rural areas have a lot of unique needs that must be addressed.

Nice to have the Superintendent of Public Instruction in the North State. This is a photo of him visiting Glenn County and with the Glenn County Superintendent, Tracey Quarne (on the left).
