Transgender bathroom access triggers dispute

A new state law to guarantee the rights of transgender students has come under attack from critics because it will allow pupils who physically are girls to share bathrooms and locker-room facilities with boys, and vice versa.

A referendum campaign to block the measure from becoming law Jan. 1 is in its final few days with the deadline for collecting signatures approaching.
