Do You Know a Child with Special Needs? The Modoc County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) wants to ensure that every child in Modoc County who has a disability receives the help he or she needs. No child should be overlooked.
The SELPA accepts referrals and screens children who may have a disability. The child is then referred to appropriate staff for evaluation or services. This assessment is provided at no cost to the parent.
A referral to the SELPA may be made by a parent or by any person concerned about a child. Parent involvement and agreement is obtained prior to any further action. Information is confidential and the privacy of children and parents is protected.
If you know of a child who has one or more of the following disabilities (or you suspect a child has a disability), please let us know.
For children ages birth to 6, please contact our Early Intervention program for assistance.
For children ages 6 to 22, please contact your child's teacher, the school administration, or the SELPA office. WE ARE HERE TO HELP!
