Mike Martin, County Superintendent

I am so proud to be the Modoc County Superintendent of Schools! Prior to being appointed to fill that vacancy by the Modoc County School Board, effective December 8, 2015, I began my career in education in 1992 as a math teacher at Lassen High School in Susanville, CA. I came to Modoc County in 1994 as a math teacher at Modoc High School. Since then I have held positions as an assistant principal (Modoc High School), principal (Modoc Middle and Alturas Elementary Schools), superintendent (Modoc Joint Unified), and deputy superintendent (Modoc County Office of Education). I have also held various coaching positions throughout my career in education.

I am passionate about education, being a member of the Modoc County Office of Education (MCOE) team, and working with the dedicated educators, students, and families in Modoc County. As a member of the MCOE team I will always do what is in the best interest of children. In doing so, I will communicate openly with all team members, including our families and community members. Further, I am committed to the educational process in our county and I will devote the time necessary to this process in my current position as Superintendent.
